Privacy Policy — Korean Teacher Bot

Our Commitment

This policy explains how the Korean Teacher Bot (선생님) handles your data when you interact with it on Discord.

We do not store your messages, track your activity, or sell any data. The bot has no database.

What the Bot Processes

When you interact with the bot, the following data is processed temporarily in memory:

• Your messages in the bot's designated channel, mentions, or DMs — used to generate a response and then held only in short-term conversation history
• Conversation history (last 10 messages per channel) — kept in memory for context, automatically cleared after 10 minutes of inactivity or on bot restart
• Your Discord user ID — checked against Discord's entitlements API to verify premium subscription status (no subscription data is stored by us)
• A daily message count per user — tracked in memory to enforce the 100/day premium session limit, resets at midnight UTC and on bot restart

What We Do Not Collect

We do NOT collect, store, or have access to:

• Your name, email, profile information, or any personal identifiers beyond your Discord user ID
• Payment or billing information — all subscription billing is handled entirely by Discord
• Server membership lists, roles, or permissions
• Analytics, tracking cookies, or usage telemetry of any kind
• Message content in permanent logs or databases — the bot has no database

Data Storage

The bot runs with no database and no persistent storage for user data:

• All conversation history and usage counters exist only in server memory (RAM)
• Everything is lost when the bot restarts — there is nothing to delete because nothing is saved
• No messages, user IDs, or interaction data are written to disk, a database, or any external service

AI Processing (Premium)

When premium users interact with AI-powered features, messages are processed by Anthropic's Claude API:

• Your message and recent conversation context are sent to Anthropic to generate a response
• Anthropic does not store or use these messages for training under their commercial API terms
• We do not use your messages to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model

Dictionary Lookups (Free)

Free dictionary commands send your search query to the Korean Learners' Dictionary (krdict) public API operated by the National Institute of Korean Language. Only the search term is sent — no user identifiers or other data. The krdict API is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

Discord & Third-Party Services

The bot operates on Discord's platform. Your use of Discord is governed by Discord's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Premium subscriptions are processed by Discord — we have no access to your payment information. The bot requires only the permissions necessary to read messages in designated channels and send responses.

Children's Privacy

The bot does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The bot is accessible through Discord, which has its own age requirements.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Our commitment to not storing or selling your data will remain unchanged.
